Caucus - 20 February 2016

Recently the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) adopted its caucus and convention rules.  These are the rules which govern the caucus and convention events through which the public participates in the selection of the Republican Party nominee for President of the United States of America.

This process starts with the precinct caucus, in which delegates for the County Convention are elected.  While the format is different at the County Convention, the same action takes place:  Delegates are elected to go to the State Convention. Similarly, at the State Convention, delegates are elected to go to the National Convention.

The rules can be found here.  Dates and events are listed in the last few pages of the document.  Key public events are listed below:

  • February 20, 2016…..2016 Republican Precinct Caucuses.
  • March 12, 2016….. The County Convention will be held at the Cowlitz County Event Center. At the Convention delegates to State Convention will be elected.
  • May 19-21, 2016…..State Convention and Congressional District Caucuses, Pasco, WA
  • July 18-21, 2016…..Republican National Convention, Cleveland, Ohio.
